Mission
Statement
Working closely
with the pioneering Reflexology Forum the I.F.R will strive to achieve
common high standards of Reflexology practice for ALL reflexologists,
both in the U.K and worldwide, throughout its membership and via
a nationally agreed framework of qualifications, to the benefit
and protection of the general public.
History
of the I.F.R.
The I.F.R was
founded in 1983 by a group of like-minded professional reflexologists.
These therapists felt that training standards and levels of professional
competence were not high enough and that the general public had
no way of contacting a therapist whom they could trust to treat
them with care and competence.
The I.F.R is a constituted body with its own Constitution, Code
of Ethics and Practice and a Disciplinary Procedure to govern the
conduct of its members. It is a non-profit making organization whose
members are professionally qualified therapists and practitioners,
or those undergoing training for professional qualification.
Who
are the I.F.R Today?
Today the Federation
has grown to be a leader organization in the field and now has several
thousands of members working all over the world, bound together
by the strict code of ethics and practice. As well as keeping a
register of professional therapists, the I.F.R is largely involved
in educational activities and has a list of accredited schools all
of which teach to a centrally agreed syllabus. All therapists take
a separate course in Anatomy and Physiology over and above the requirements
of study for Reflexology.
Our
Chairperson
Renée
Tanner is widely acknowledged as the foremost voice in Reflexology,
within the international community of therapists. The I.F.R benefits
enormously from Renée’s knowledge, dedication and experience
and we are most fortunate to have her unique input, personal involvement
and support.
Our Environmental
Policy
The International Federation of Reflexologists will use policies
and procedures that will ensure the conservation of natural resources
while minimising any adverse environmental impact from our operations,
including, but not limited to, waste reduction and recycling.
We aim to review our environmental policies and procedures regularly
to improve our performance and quality.
All employees are made aware of this policy and their responsibilities
for environmental issues.
IFR operates an energy conservation policy to ensure that all
non-critical equipment is switched off when not needed.
Low energy electrical equipment will be preferred for purchase.
IFR will endeavour to conduct as many tasks as are appropriate
by electronic means in order to reduce paper usage.
IFR will always seek to purchase products that are environmentally
friendly, re-usable, and recyclable and that do not damage the
environment.
Whenever possible, appropriate and safe IFR re-uses incoming
packaging materials.
This policy statement is on display at our premises and is made
available to the public via our website.
